and may he forever bless these united states of america. >> well, this year the inauguration fell on the martin luther king jr. holiday. after being sworn in monday, president obama paused for a moment of reflection in front of the bust of the leader at the capitol rotunda. he was joined by the first lady and congressional leaders. but the president wasn't the only one in the spotlight monday. first daughters sasha and malia obama had quite a few scene-stealing moments of their own. malia busted out some dance moves for her mom before the swearing-in. and 11-year-old sasha created an instant viral video by yawning during her dad's presidential address right after a line about education policy. the girls also used their phones to take lots of photos of their family during the event. at one point, malia even photo bombed her younger sister. before leaving the inaugural platform as the center of attention for the very last time, president obama had the presence of mind to stop and take in the moment.

welcome back to "early today." elections are being held in israel today to determine if prime minister benjamin netanyahu will win a third term in office. nbc's jim maceda is in tel aviv. jim, good morning.

now, prime minister's netanyahu's coalition government may be weaker after today's voting. will that change israel's policies? >> reporter: good morning, mara. the latest polling showed even though netanyahu's party is about to lose eight to ten seats in the parliament, he'll still make it a comfortable win today. the policies going forward, that will be largely shaped by the coalition he forms to govern with and that horse trading will start in earnest probably as early as tomorrow. his obvious choice is lining up with even more hard-line parties to his right, including a right wing, extreme right wing group who are saying publicly they want to annex much of the west bank. that would be a worst-case scenario for palestinians here. or netanyahu could surprise

helicopter gunner in afghanistan. while there, he made some revealing comments and he acknowledged that he has killed taliban fighters. >> take a life to save a life. that's what we sort of revolve around, i suppose. you know, it's people trying to stop war and we'll play the game, i suppose. >> harry also opened up about the infamous vegas photos of him naked and partying. he described his treatment by the media as unacceptable. >> i don't really want to get into details about what i think other people think. i really let myself down and other people down. at the end of the day, you know, there should be a certain amount of privacy that one should expect >> and the prince said he's thrilled about being an uncle but he complains that couldn't be kept a secret longer. >> i'm thrilled for both of them.

captured some terrific moments. we start with beyonce's performance which seemed to catch the eye of senator chuck schumer. he was right behind the dazzling diva stealing a bit of that spotlight. president bill clinton didn't want to miss his chance of seeing kelly clarkson up close and personal. the former commander in chief was caught sneaking a peek. and leave it to families to embarrass. obama brother-in-law had his own 15 minutes of fame hamming it up over the president's shoulder. eric cantor was caught making a sour faces during richard blanco's reading of a poem. doesn't look like a fan there. and malia caught in hopping for a quick photo bomb as sasha tried to snap a moment of the parents. both daughters were in good spirits, hopping and bouncing as guests took the stage. malia showed off her moves. it's so nice to see the girls grow up. from 2004 to now -- >> you've seen the change from, you know, president obama from four years ago and how he's
